Sharp rise in pre-placement offers to IIM-A students

The pre-placement offers (PPO) to the students of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A), from domestic as well as international companies have improved remarkably this year, an official said today.

The offers coming to the students this year have increased significantly from last year. With the economy looking up, the job market is getting buoyant again, the Chairperson of Placement Committee of IIM-A, Saral Mukherjee, told PTI.

PPO's are offered to the final year Post Graduate Programme (PGP) students by companies after they complete 8-10 week internship, he said.

According to IIM-A placement cell, PPO's have been offered to the students by companies like HUL, Aditya Birla group, Tata Administrative Services, Mckinsey and Boston Consultancy Group, ahead of the final placements on the campus.
 
A batch of 312 PGP students will be seeking final placements from IIM-A, this year.
 
Meanwhile, IIM-A Placement Cell today announced that the interviews for summer placements for a first year batch of 380 PGP students will begin from November 12.
 
"The investment banks (i-banks) who had not come to the campus two years ago are coming back for the summer placement with full force this year," Mukherjee said.
       
The interviews for the summer placements will be conducted through a cohort based system under which companies will be divided into groups called cohorts based on multiple parameters such as roles, locations, salaries etc and several cohorts will be held in one cluster.
       
Interviews in the first cluster are scheduled to start from November 12 and will go on till all the students are placed in the roles of their choice, a IIM-A statement said.
