TUFS saw 90% of applications from Gujarat: Textile Comm

Similarly, the govt is giving 15% capital subsidy & 5% interest reimbursement for brand new shuttleless looms to strengthen the weaving sector

In her meeting with stakeholders on Tuesday, Kiran Soni Gupta, IAS, Textile Commissioner stated out of the total applications sanctioned under the Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS) under 15 per cent MMS, 90 per cent were from Gujarat.

“In the Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS) under 15 per cent MMS, 2897 applications sanctioned from Gujarat out of 3200 applications sanctioned to all over India. Similarly under 20 per cent MMS, 1160 application sanctioned out of 4154 applications sanctioned to all over India,” the Textile Commissioner informed in an official communique.  A meeting was held at the Ahmedabad Textile Industries Research Association (ATIRA) between the Textile Commissioner and textile industry stakeholders.

Gupta also informed that under RRTUFS, till date, the Regional Office at Ahmedabad received 1030 applications under 15 per cent MMS and 134 applications under 30 per cent MMS from small scale sector.

It was informed by the Textile Commissioner that, the government is giving 10 per cent capital subsidy in addition to 5 per cent interest reimbursement for modernisation of technical textile, processing and readymade garment sectors on specified machines.

Similarly, the government is giving 15 per cent capital subsidy & 5 per cent interest reimbursement for brand new shuttleless looms to strengthen the weaving sector.

Meanwhile, the Textile Commissioner also explained that, similarly, in the Scheme of Integrated Textile Park (SITP) where government of India has been giving 40 per cent subsidy on project cost, a total 61 projects has been sanctioned in the country out of which eight projects are in Gujarat alone, out of which seven projects are functional and one project has been recently sanctioned in Surat and is under implementation.
