Viacom18 Media today filed a petition before broadcasting tribunal TDSAT, asking it to restrain MSM Discovery from distributing and marketing its channels.
The broadcaster, which runs channels like Colors and MTV, alleged MSM Discovery was distributing its channels in an unfair and unfavourable manner. It said (MSM Discovery) had deliberately packaged the said channels “in an unfair and unfavourable manner”.
“Despite being one of the highest-rated entertainment channels, Colors is not yet included in the basic packages of DTH operators like Tata Sky and Dish TV,” Viacom18 said in its petition.
Advocate Rishi Agrawal, appearing for Viacom18, contended MSM Discovery should be restrained from representing the service provider, as the notice for agreement termination had been sent to it on July 13.
