Wipro Consumer Care & Lighting (WCCLG) has dragged V3 Engineers, a Bangalore-based company engaged in manufacture of furniture, to court for infringement of their registered designs.
Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting filed a complaint in the city civil court against V3 Engineers alleging infringement of the registered designs, comprising components and accessories of modular office furniture range marketed by WCCLG under the brand name I’M, a Wipro press release said.
In its complaint, Wipro alleged that V3 Engineers have copied essential and stand out features of their furniture range to create similar looking furniture.
After perusing records and evidence submitted by Wipro, the Court by ex-parte ad-interim injunction, prohibited V3 from manufacturing and/or selling furniture incorporating features registered by Wipro till further orders.
The court has asked V3 to appear before itself on March 18, 2011.
"At Wipro, we invest substantial resources in terms of money and efforts to create new and unique products for our clients. Our products are not only aesthetically appealing but also add value to client’s business," said Parag Kulkarni, Vice President, Furniture & Lighting business, Wipro.
"With a fine in-house team of qualified industrial designers, we have also tied up with designers of international repute to deliver world class products. It is disheartening to see competition piggy riding on our efforts to make quick and easy money," he added.
