Wipro launches Testing-as-a-Service portal

Wipro Technologies, the consulting and system integration arm of Wipro, today said it has launched a Testing-as-a-Service (TaaS) portal.

TaaS is a model of software testing, where a provider undertakes software testing for customers as a service on demand.

Through the portal, potential customers would be able to browse, request for quotes and purchase services online, Wipro said in a statement.

Wipro Chairman Azim Premji had recently said the company is looking at areas like eco-energy, technology infrastructure, info-crossing and testing, besides other verticals, to drive growth.

The company plans to add 20 more services and other functionalities to the portal in the near future, it said.

Citing IDC reports, Wipro said global testing services is a $56 billion market and 10 per cent out of it gets outsourced to India through the traditional offshoring methods.

"From being a mere phase in the development cycle, testing is now being increasingly accepted as a 'productised service' offering. The highlight of Wipro's TaaS portal is the simplicity of use," Wipro Technologies Senior Vice President and Global Head of Testing Services Gangadharaiah C P Said.
