The Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) after announcing the expansion of its Terminal 1 has started the construction work. This development comes after the airport completed three years of its operations and after having achieved a growth rate of 18 per cent per annum, the highest of any airport in the country. The enhanced terminal is aimed at improving passenger experience, making access to seating, amenities and commercial facilities easier and better.
The design of the expanded terminal is set to sport a modern design elevation and will be completed in approximately 18 months from this date. In the greenfield private sector-owned and operated airport, private promoters hold a 74 per cent stake in BIAL while the government holds the remaining 26 per cent.
