Zuari Industries today said it has shut down complex fertiliser plants at Vasco-da-Gama in Goa as the company does not have raw material to run the facilities.

"The company is compelled to shut down the complex fertiliser plants as well due to exhaustion of ammonia and phosphoric acid, the requisite raw materials for production of complex fertilisers," Zuari said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

Last month, Zuari had announced the shut down of its urea and ammonia plants at Vasco-da-Gama on account of non availability of feedstock following a major break out of fire due to leakage in petroleum pipeline from which it gets naptha.

"The petroleum pipeline which supplies naptha to the company is yet to be repaired," the filing said.

Earlier, Zuari had informed that the Mormugao Port Trust was not allowing shipments of ammonia and phosphoric acid on account of the fire accident in its pipeline.

ZIL's Vasco-da-Gama plants have an annual installed capacity of 9.46 lakh tonnes of fertilisers. The entire manufacturing facility comprises of four separate plants of Ammonia, Urea and two other plants that manufacture various grades of NPK fertilisers apart from di-ammonium phosphate (DAP).

Shares of the company today closed at Rs 585, down 1.52% from its previous close at the BSE.
