The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had built the bridge in 24 months with a total cost of Rs 50 crore. Phase I of the ROB was completed in January this year and opened for traffic. Now, the bridge has been widened to enable 4 lane traffic as part of the second phase.
Meanwhile, the DMRC has decided to cancel the contract with Era - Ranken, a joint venture of Era Infra Engineering Limited and Ranken, a Beijing-based railway construction group, to build the fourth reach of the metro rail.
While stating this E Sreedharan, chief mentor of DMRC, did not reveal the reason behind the decision and said the DMRC would sign a contract with a new company for the construction of the reach in a week. The land acquisition for the project would also be completed in a time-bound manner.
Era- Ranken was to construct elevated viaduct, 5 elevated stations (Kadavanthara, Elamkulam, Vyttila, Thaikoodam and Petta ) apart from architectural finishing works and plumbing works of stations in September this year.
