Alcohol ban: 58% tourists say no to holidaying in Kerala

72% travellers from Delhi say they will not travel to Kerala but Pune & Chennai travellers are unaffected, says the HolidayIQ.com survey

Fifty eight per cent of over 5,000 participants from across 30 Indian cities say they would not plan a holiday to Kerala following the state's proposal to ban alcohol, a survey said. However, 42% of the remaining respondents said they would still holiday in Kerala.  

The survey, "Will the ban on alcohol affect your travel plans to Kerala?", was conducted by HolidayIQ.com, a travel community.

Travellers from Delhi reacted most strongly to the ban with 72% saying they wouldn’t travel to Kerala on a holiday whereas travellers from Pune and Chennai were relatively unaffected.

While 61% male respondents said they would now not go to Kerala only 37% female respondents said the same indicating the alcohol ban did not have significant impact on female travellers.

Travel plans of 63% frequent travellers were affected by the ban but only 48% of other travellers said the same
