A bomb exploded near the Manipur University in Imphal on Wednesday, hours after a four-year-old girl was injured when insurgents attacked a Border Security Force (BSF) patrol at Maphou village in Imphal east district.
The first bomb exploded around 9 am. The BSF personnel escaped unharmed in the blast that was triggered by remote control.
The university students were in the classrooms when the blast took place.
Initial reports said that there was no casualty. The terrified students rushed out of their classrooms.
Sangeeta Laishram, a student, condemned the incident and said such acts should never be repeated.
No arrest could be made since the insurgents had apparently escaped before the arrival of police and bomb experts.
