At least one naval officer was killed and another injured when they inhaled gas which leaked from a container in the Mazagaon Docks Ltd. (MDL) here, officials said.
According to preliminary information, the gas leak took place when some repair work was underway on a sophisticated naval ship undergoing trials here.
Naval and MDL officials, while confirming leak of carbon dioxide gas cylinder, said further details of the incident are awaited.
MDL is India's premier shipyard which manufactures warships, submarines, offshore platforms, tankers, passenger ships, support vessels for the Indian Navy and also for private sector.
