Seeking to regain its lost ground, Congress in Bihar on Friday held a detailed discussion on how to bring back their traditional support base minorities to the party fold and decided to organise a state-level conference of minorities.

Newly appointed PCC chief Ashok Chaudhary held a meeting with workers of party's minority cell and discussed with leaders how to bring back minorities Muslims and others back to party fold, party sources said.

Chaudhary emphasised on linking minorities in great number directly with the party upto panchayat level and said party would put pressure on the state government for their welfare.

Members of the minority cell highlighted that Congress has always been first choice of minorities as it granted second language status to Urdu, established minority finances, appointment of madrasa teachers and scholarship to students of minority community.

Prominent among those present in the meeting were former Legislators Khalil Ansari, Jamal Ahmad Bhalu and Aquil Haider.

With just two Lok Sabha members and four representatives in the state Assembly, Congress in Bihar has been working to regain its lost ground under strict supervision of party Vice President Rahul Gandhi. It had debunked relationship with RJD and LJP and contested alone in last general elections and state Assembly polls in 2010.
