While number of pending cases in the courts of the countries keep growing, amendments to the existing laws will not help, but a change in approach will, said Justice Mohit Shah, chief justice, Bombay High Court.
According to Shah, pendency of cases in courts is known to all.
"But waiting for amendments to solve it, will not help. What is required is the change in approach and not the changes in existing laws," said Shah during his address at the National Legal Summit 2013, organised by Federation of Gujarat Industries here on Saturday.
"Maximum usage of lok adalats and resolution of cases through arbitration and mediation will reduce the burden of courts to a great extent," said Shah adding that all the 1800 judges in Maharashtra will be trained for mediation.
