"I have ordered an inquiry. The secretary home department will look into it," Shinde told reporters in Kolkata.
Shinde is in Kolkata today to chair a meeting of the Eastern Zonal Council, comprising the state governments of West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand and Bihar.
This apart, the Centre has also instituted an inquiry into the attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and state Finance Minister Amit Mitra by SFI members in Delhi, Shinde said today.
"I have instituted an inquiry into the incident and the special secretary of the Home Department is looking into it," he said.
The Eastern Zonal Council is one of the five councils that were created for developing cooperation among States and solving inter-State problems.
This was chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s first public appearance after her discharge from a city hospital.
