India reported a decline of 228 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 15,419. The country is fifty-sixth among the most affected countries by active cases. On May 19, it added 2,364 cases to take its total caseload to 43,129,563. And, with 10 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 524,303, or 1.22 per cent of total confirmed infections.
 
With 1,371,603 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on May 18, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 1,917,996,905. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 42,589,841 — or 98.75 per cent of total caseload — with 2,582 new cured cases being reported on May 19.
