Data story: India logs 4,043 Covid cases; active tally declines marginally

India on September 20 reported a decrease of 648 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 47,379. The country is thirty-fifth among the most affected countries globally by active cases. On September 20, it added 4,043 cases to take its total caseload to 44,543,089. And, with 15 new fatalities, including six more reconciled by Kerala, its Covid-19 death toll reached 528,370, or 1.19 per cent of total confirmed infections.
 
With 1,310,410 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on September 19, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 2,168,324,537. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 43,967,340 — or 98.71 per cent of the total caseload — with 4,676 new cured cases being reported on September 20.
