As a warm winter sun shines on the NSIC ground in Okhla, New Delhi, hundreds of enthusiastic comic and pop culture lover can be seen thronging the venue for Comic Con Delhi.  The enthusiasm and energy visible on the very first day, was a marker of what is to be expected in the coming comic weekend. The 3 day fest will be on till December 6.  The event promises some major comic artists, popular character actors, publishers and a host of other attraction to keep the Delhi comic fan busy.

For starters, Internationally acclaimed Actor, Kristian Nairn,  best known for his role as Hodor in the award-winning HBO fantasy drama series ‘Game of Thrones’ is attending and would meeting fans at DCC all three days.  DCC’s line events include guest appearances and sessions by comic artist Ty Templeton, Cyanide and Happiness creator Rob Denbleyker and Valiant Entertainment CEO Dinesh Shamdasani. There are also gaming zones, tattoo artists, the Artist Alley, Cosplay competitions, and ofcourse launches.

As the day grew older, the ground got more and more crowded. Long lines of fans marked the special guest’s tent, all queuing up for autographed artworks. There was also a considerable throng at the Artist Alley, where new and upcoming comic artists, doodlers, caricaturists and painters showcased their artwork with élan. Most are expectant of a warm response from both fans and publishers.
And because this is a Comic con, there are bound to be Cosplay. We spotted Spiderman, Deathstroke, Mad-hatter, (Wo)Men in Black,  and what looked like a woman in a pink cat costume.  There was also the exclusive book launch of Malik Sajjad’s Munnu by Harper Collins India.

However, by the time the day came to a close, Chris Nairn’s appearance had definitely emerged as the showstopper. The entire ground flocked to Hodor, as the giant DJ made his way to the grounds. This was just a trailer of course. Nairn is scheduled to make an appearance every day of the event, with a special panel session on the second day.
The second day will also have a session with Ty Templeton, the renowned comic creator of Stig’s Inferno and the man behind Batman Adventures.
