Domestic help's murder: BSP MP arrested for destroying proof

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Dhananjay Singh was arrested on charges of destruction of evidence in the domestic help murder case.

Earlier, the MP's wife Jagriti was arrested by Delhi Police on charges of the death of a 35-year-old maid and torturing another minor domestic help.

"We have registered the case and arrested MP Dhananjay Singh and his wife in connection with their's maid's murder," said Mukesh Kumar, Joint CP.

The body of maid Rakhi, with several injury marks on her legs, chest and arms, was recovered from Singh's residence at South Avenue in New Delhi on Monday evening after the MP himself informed the police.

An FIR was registered against Jagriti at Chankyapuri police station under sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 344 (wrongful confinement) of Indian Penal code and Juvenile Justice Act.

Dhananjay Singh is the sitting Member of Parliament from Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur.

"I got a call three days back from Jagriti that the maid was injured after she fell from the terrace. Yesterday evening, I again got a call saying she has died, I rushed from my constituency," Dhananjay Singh told media on Tuesday.
