Govt hikes relief amount for natural calamity victims' kin

The government has raised the quantum of compensation from Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs  4 lakh for the next of kin of those killed in to natural calamities. The raised amount would be applicable for relatives of  victims of the recent earthquakes.

The government revised the guidelines for the National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF) for this purpose, an official release said here.

The fund from NDRF for  recent earthquake victims would be in addition to the Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF). 

In addition to these measures, a compensation of Rs 50,000 from PMNRF has also been announced for those seriously injured in earthquakes.
