Two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants, including top commander Waseem Shah, on Saturday were killed in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. 

Security forces launched an operation in Litter area of Pulwama this morning following information from specific intelligence inputs about the presence of the militants in the area, a police official said. 

The militants opened fire on security forces which was retaliated by the law enforcement personnel, he said. 

The other slain militant has been identified as Nisar Ahmed Mir.

The operation was still on, the officer said.
 
According to reports, one AK-47, one AK-56 and six AK magazines were recovered by the security forces.

Earlier on Wednesday, two other terrorists were killed in an encounter with the security forces in Hajin area of Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir.

While four days back, three Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were killed when a cordon and search operation (CASO) turned into an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian.
