UP govt to provide Rs 2,500 per month to children who lost parents to reasons other than COVI9-19

The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet on Monday approved a proposal to provide financial assistance of Rs 2,500 per month under the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Bal Seva Yojana (general) to children below 18 years who lost their parents due to reasons other than COVID-19.

 

The Cabinet also decided that monetary help will be provided to adults between 18 to 23 years who have lost their parents or guardians due to COVID-19 or other reasons and are pursuing education after completing Class 12.

 

The cabinet approved the scheme under which children below the age of 18 years who have lost both their parents or either of the parents or a guardian due to reasons other than COVID-19 will be provided financial assistance, a government spokesman said.

Mumbai sees 259 new COVID-19 cases, 9 deaths, 391 recoveries

Mumbai on Monday reported 259 fresh COVID-19 cases and nine fatalities while 391 patients recovered, the city civic body said. With the fresh additions, the tally of infections in the commercial capital now stands at 7,35,371, COVID-19 death toll 15,908 and the count of recoveries at 7,12,311, it said. Mumbai is now left with 4,744 active patients, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said in a report.

 

With 26,768 new tests, the number of samples tested so far in Mumbai rose to 82,12,301. Mumbai is now left with three containment zones while 46 buildings remained sealed as a preventive measure to curb the spread of coronavirus, the report said.

 

With the improvement in the COVID-19 scenario, the Mumbai civic body on Monday evening announced that all shops in the metropolis can now remain open till 10 pm on all days. The BMC also okayed resumption of shooting for films and television serials besides sports activities.

Mizoram ranks seventh in coronavirus vaccination

Mizoram occupies the seventh position among the states in terms of vaccination coverage against COVID-19 even as the state is currently reeling under its worst coronavirus surge. A senior health department official said on Monday, more than 81 per cent of the eligible beneficiaries have been administered the shots in the border state, he said.

 

National Health Mission (NHM) director Dr. Eric Zomawia said that the vaccination drive is going on in full swing across the state.

 

Of the 7.75 lakh eligible beneficiaries (18 years and above), over 6.30 lakh people (81.4 per cent ) have been administered the first jab till Sunday, the official said. Out of 6.30 lakh people, 1.98 lakh (31.4 per cent ) have been fully vaccinated, he said. About 3,000 odd pregnant women have also been inoculated.

Maharashtra shops to remain open till 8pm, restrictions to continue in places witnessing rise in Covid cases

Shops in Maharashtra will remain open till 8 pm, said Chief Minister Uddhav Thackrey on Monday, adding that restriction will continue in the places where the cases are on rising.

 

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Thackeray said ease in the restrictions can only be given in the places with fewer cases.

 

"There is fear of the third wave in the state. We have already seen the situation of the second wave in the nation. The need for oxygen required in the second wave will be doubled in the third wave if it hits the nation and the states. I don't want that situation to come to Maharashtra, we have to follow Covid appropriate behaviour to avoid the rise of the third wave," he said.

 

"The timing of the shops is increased upto 8 in the evening now and restriction will continue in the places where the cases are on rising. Ease in the restrictions can only be given in the places with fewer cases. We urge the people to cooperate with us," he added.
