Over 30 countries have agreed on mutual recognition of COVID-19 vaccine certificates with India, official sources said on Thursday.
The countries that have agreed on mutual recognition with India include the UK, France, Germany, Nepal, Belarus, Lebanon, Armenia, Ukraine, Belgium, Hungary and Serbia, they said.

The Central Vista project will not only save money but will also bring better cohesion in administration and output, Union minister Jitendra Singh said, noting that thousands of crore of rupees is being paid as rent by various ministries for hired premises.
Inaugurating the new state-of-the-art building constructed at Technology Bhawan campus for the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) in New Delhi, Singh said "de-silosation" not only of work but also workplaces is needed for better and cost-effective outcomes.
Referring to the prime minister's vision of the Central Vista project, Singh said, even after 74 years of independence, the nation does not have a central secretariat and various ministries have hired premises and thousands of crore of rupees is paid as rent for the same, according to a statement by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, was a regular consumer of drugs, the NCB on Thursday told a special NDPS court here while opposing his bail plea in a case of alleged seizure of banned drugs from a cruise ship.
Aryan (23), arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on October 3, will have to remain in jail for at least six more days as the court, after hearing arguments, posted the matter for orders on October 20.
Khan and two others -- Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha -- have sought bail from the court of V V Patil, special judge for cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

The supply of coal by CIL to the non-power sector has been kept suspended temporarily amid electricity generating plants in the country grappling with coal shortages.
"Supplies to non-power sector plants have been kept suspended till further information," according to a recent letter of Coal India's arm South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) seen by PTI.
On being asked about the development, a CIL official said, "This is only a temporary prioritisation, in the interest of the nation, to tide over the low coal stock situation at the stressed power plants and scale up supplies to them."

India and the US will kickstart a 15-day mega military exercise in Alaska from Friday to further deepen bilateral military cooperation.
The 17th edition of the exercise "Yudh Abhyas" will be conducted at Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson in Alaska from October 15 to 29, the Indian Army said on Thursday.
The Indian contingent at the exercise will comprise 350 personnel of an infantry battalion group of the Indian Army.

The Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa temple will open on October 16 at 5.00 PM for 'Thula masam' poojas and on the next day a draw of lots would be held to select its next 'melshanti' (head priest), the Travancore Devaswom Board said on Thursday.
The temple would be opened and the lamps would be lit by the present melshanti V K Jayaraj Potti in the presence of the Thanthri Kandararu Mahesh Mohanaru, a release issued by the Board said.
Subsequently, the Upadevata temple would be opened and a lamp would be lit there also. A fire would also be lit in front of the 18th step of the path leading to the shrine, it said.

More than half number of people diagnosed with COVID-19 experience post-COVID symptoms, known as long COVID, up to six months after recovering, according to a study.
The researchers at Penn State College of Medicine in the US noted that governments, health care organisations and public health professionals should prepare for the large number of COVID-19 survivors who will need care for a variety of psychological and physical symptoms.
During their illnesses, many patients with COVID-19 experience symptoms, such as tiredness, difficulty breathing, chest pain, sore joints and loss of taste or smell, they said.

The SIT probing the Lakhimpur Kheri violence on Thursday took Union Minister Ajay Mishra's son and three others arrested in the case to recreate the sequence of events leading to the incident in Uttar Pradesh's Tikonia village.
Amid tight security, the three accused were taken to the site of the incident on the Tikonia-Banbirpur road, around 60 km from district headquarters Lakhimpur city, police said.
Eight people died in the October 3 violence and of them, four were farmers, allegedly knocked down by a vehicle carrying BJP workers.
