Maharashtra tightens security ahead of Yakub Memon execution

Move comes after attack and ahead of execution of Yakub Memon

An alert has been sounded and security strengthens across Maharashtra after Monday’s terrorist attack in Punjab and ahead of the execution of Mumbai serial bomb blast convict Yakub Memon.

Police officers briefed Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis about the security arrangements and the steps taken to maintain law and order. Minister of state for home Ranjit Patil told Business Standard : “The government is closely monitoring the situation. Security has been strengthened across the state.”

Memon is due to be hanged on Thursday.
