The state Cabinet, on January 21, had approved the project report of MUDA for forming a new layout on 484.24 acres at Ballahalli village, 15 kms off Mysuru at a cost of Rs 258 crore.
MUDA had submitted the report proposing the formation of the new layout on February 8, 2013, for approval to the government. “The Cabinet nod comes as a new year and Sankranti gift to site-seekers,” said Chairman K R Mohan Kumar on Friday.
He said, MUDA would acquire lands from land owners on 60:40 ratio. Instead of compensation, it would hand over back to them 40 per cent of the developed area. This would lessen the burden on MUDA in land acquisition cost as farmers would be partners in the site-sharing project. It will also benefit the farmers losing land to dispose off the sites on their own.
With private developers blocking lands for layout developments around the city by paying the farmers advance amounts, MUDA has drawn up the site-sharing project to overcome the hurdle.
The new layout would result in the formation of 6,155 sites which will be available for allotment to the site-seekers. MUDA proposed to execute the project in the next 18 months and distribute the sites. The proposed layout at Ballahalli is about four kms from the Rabindranath Tagore Nagar layout developed by MUDA.
A 100-ft wide double road has already been formed to link the proposed new layout to the outer ring road, Kumar said.
“MUDA has been acquiring lands around Mysuru and allotting sites to landless people. It has been allotting sites on priority basis to the applicants,” he added.
