Union Minister of Railways Suresh Prabhakar Prabu flagged off a new weekly superfast express from Chennai Central to Visakhapatnam. The minister also announced the commencement of Chennai Central-Kamakhya premium AC express.
In view of the heavy traffic between Chennai and Visakhapatnam, many express trains were being operated. Besides, special trains were also being operated during festive occasions and holidays.
Nevertheless, constant increase in passenger traffic had necessitated the introduction of an additional train service, said the Southern Railway in a release.
The Chennai Central-Kamakhya express will pass through Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal and Assam.
