The Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal would dedicate to the public the first unit 660 MW of 1980 MW Talwandi Sabo Power Plant (TSPL) on November 25 at a function organised at Talwandi Sabo.

It is worth mentioning that the 1980 MW Talwandi Sabo Power plant was being developed by Sterlite Energy Limited, a Vedanta group company, at an approximate cost of Rs 11,000 crore. This power plant project will be the first of its kind hi-tech and non-polluting plant in the state of Punjab and will probably be the greenest power plant in the country. The power plant was envisioned by the ruling SAD-BJP government and was being commissioned by them only.

According to Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, the plant would undoubtedly give a boost to the industrial sector and Punjab’s economy in the state as well, and Punjab would be power surplus by the end of December this year. Power would be available to the people at the cheaper rates. All the 1980 MW power generated at TSPL will be supplied to Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL)," he added.

Terming the project as a major milestone in power generation in the state, Badal said that the SAD-BJP government has always believed in delivering and true to its commitment with the people of the state it has fulfilled the promises made with the people of Punjab.

The Deputy Chief Minister also said that the Rajpura thermal power plant being developed by L & T would also be dedicated to public on December 8.
