Social media buzz: Adityanath, Samsung and Vodafone-Idea merger

Yogi Adityanath:

Since the announcement of Yogi Adityanath as UP's chief minister, social media has been abuzz with news about his actions. Even on Tuesday morning, Yogi was the trend on Twitter and Facebook. The BJP leader, who was sworn-in as the 21st Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, has been a five-time Member of Parliament of Lok Sabha from Gorakhpur in eastern Uttar Pradesh.

The report was also one of the top trends on social media globally with Norway emerging as the world’s happiest country. Norway outranked Denmark which held the top position earlier. India claimed the 122nd spot, down from 118 in the 2013-2015 report. Nations such as China (79), Pakistan (80), Nepal (99), Bangladesh (110), Iraq (117) and Sri Lanka (120) fared better than India on the ranking. 
 
Vodafone-Idea: 

As the telecom merger was announced on Monday morning, both the companies have been trending on the social media. The merger created the country’s largest telecom operator with nearly 35% market share. Bharti Airtel, which used to be the biggest market player till now, will be a distant second, with 268 million customers in India. The whole telecom industry has seen major upheaval after Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Jio's commercial launch in September 2016.

Samsung:

The South-Korean tech major announced on Monday that a voice-powered digital assistant named Bixby will debut with a flagship Galaxy S8 smartphone which led 'Bixby' and 'Samsung' trend. Bixby enters a crowded field of digital assistants powered by artificial intelligence that includes Apple's Siri, Google Assistant, Microsoft Cortana and Amazon's Alexa. A Galaxy S8 smartphone expected to be unveiled next week will have a set of pre-installed applications that will work with Bixby, according to Samsung
