A day after the arrest of Ram Sumrin Pal, one of the three masterminds in the Rs 2,000-crore Speak Asia scam, the Delhi police is now on the lookout for the two other accused who could also be hiding in the hill state or nearby areas.

But, interestingly, the state police did not have any idea about Pal who had been hiding in the posh Vasant Vihar locality here. Pal was engaged in the thriving real estate business in Dehradun and other parts of the country and was known by several names. “We don’t have any idea about Ram Sumrin Pal. But as we gather information, we will definitely share it with the media,” said Ram Singh Meena, inspector general of police.

Meena said Delhi police had not contacted the state police regarding the Speak Asia case. But sources said a team of Delhi police might be travelling to parts of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand to raid the possible hideouts of Pal’s brother Ram Niwas and Manoj Sharma, who are also wanted in the case.

The sources said the police would also interrogate the kins of Pal in Dehradun regarding the investments made by him in real estate business.

“We understand that there may be 2-3 housing colonies in Dehradun where Pal might have invested the money amassed through Speak Asia business,” said a police official.
