Symbiosis International University begins registration for SET 2017

Last date to register is April 13, 2017 and the entrance examination is scheduled for May 6, 2017

Symbiosis International University (SIU) recently announced the registration for the Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET). A common written test for the admission processes at SIU’s undergraduate institutes; SET will be conducted on May 6, 2017.  The registrations have already started and the last date to register is April 13, 2017. Last date to make the fee payment is April 17, 2017. 

The test is mandatory to gain admission in 14 institutes and 19 programs of SIU.

Eligibility criteria 

A candidate aspiring to pursue an undergraduate programme at Symbiosis should have secured 50% marks in general category and 45% marks in case of reserved category in their 12th standard.

Admission to all the courses and programmes at Symbiosis International University (SIU) are strictly on merit basis based on the criteria and processes prescribed by the University and assessment of individual performance in Symbiosis National Aptitude Test [SNAP] for Postgraduate Studies and Symbiosis Entrance Test [SET] for Undergraduate Studies.

Application process

A candidate can register for one paper from the morning session, i.e. Law or Design; and one paper from the afternoon session, i.e. General or Engineering or Health Sciences.

For Engineering and Health Sciences, a candidate need not register for SET if he / she wishes to offer scores of entrance tests other than SET, such as JEE (Main. They may apply directly to the concerned institute. Candidates applying for SSCA can submit score of NCHMCT-JEE. 

Step-by-step guide on how to apply

1. Visit the official website set-test.org  
2. Click on New Registration
3. Read the Instructions carefully 
4. Click on the I Agree button to accept the Terms and Conditions
5. Fill in the details requested on the page displayed
6. Click on Save and Continue
7. Choose a password and the hint questions
8. Click on Submit to register
9. Screen will now display SET ID
10. After successful mini registration, an email including SET ID and password will be sent to the registered id
11. Complete the form by entering the remaining details requested
12. Upload latest scanned photograph (in the required format and size) 
13. Click on Save and Continue
14. Application will redirect to Payment page
15. Pay a non-refundable test fee

When a candidate fills the registration form, he/she is granted an admit card and further details of the exam can be gained from the admit card.

NRI candidate have the option of securing admission through the Symbiosis Center for International Education (SCIE). 

Registration fees

The SET registration fee is Rs. 1500 and the programme registration fee Rs. 1000. Candidates can pay either online or offline. They have the option of paying through any one of the following five payment methods:

1. Online payment through credit card
2. Online payment through net banking
3. Online payment through Indian Bank net banking
4. Cash: At Axis Bank or Indian Bank branches. Sign the Symbiosis copy of the payment slip form stamped by Axis Bank or Indian Bank and send it to: Symbiosis Test Secretariat, Symbiosis International University, Gram: Lavale, Tal: Mulshi, Dist: Pune - 412115.
5. Demand draft: Get a crossed demand draft for Rs. 1500 from any Nationalized Bank in favour of Symbiosis Test Secretariat payable at Pune. Sign the single copy of the payment advice for DD and send it along with the DD to the Symbiosis Test Secretariat.

The Symbiosis Test Secretariat will authenticate the payment details and will send you an email confirming the payment. Only after the payment is authenticated, a candidate will be able to view the admit card. 

While paying SET fees online, a candidate may also pay the application fee for admission to the preferred institute. 

Selection procedure

SET registration and appearance for the test is mandatory?It is important to see that a candidate appears for the appropriate SET paper to seek admission. It is also mandatory to attend all components / tests of selection process, i.e. Personal Interaction and Writing Ability Test (PI-WAT), to be eligible for admission to any UG programmes. 

Only candidates who attend all components / tests shall be considered as eligible for generation of merit / wait / reject list. Candidates who remain absent for any one of the component / test will be considered as ineligible for selection process of any of the UG degree programme of SIU. All admissions are provisional, subject to confirmation of eligibility by the University.

WAT is an online objective test conducted for duration of 150 minutes. There is no negative marking for any wrong answer. The entrance exam is conducted in two sessions, with a total of five question papers. A candidate can choose to apply for one paper in each session. 

It is conducted in 21 cities around India, giving the candidates to appear for the exam from different corners of the country. 

As per the UGC guideline 2006, the reservation policy for all the institutes under the University is as follows:
