Dentist couple Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering their daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj, may soon be shifted to Agra Central Jail from Dasna Jail here.

Dasna Jail Superintendent Viresh Raj Sharma said that as per the rules, a person who has been awarded seven-year imprisonment or more by a court in western Uttar Pradesh, has to be shifted to Agra Central Jail.

However, Talwars have written a letter to Additional Director General R P Singh (Department of Prison Administration and Reform) seeking exemption from being moved to Agra jail on the ground that their three lawyers and relatives were in Delhi-NCR region.

"The decision on shifting Talwars to Agra Central Jail would be taken only after ADG disposes of the appeal made by the dentist couple," Sharma said.

When contacted, the ADG, however said he is yet to receive a letter from Talwars in this regard. "We would not go against the rule," the ADG said.

The dentist couple were sentenced to life term by a CBI court on Tuesday after they were convicted of killing their daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj five-and-a-half years ago.
