Tapash Paul served board positions in firms

Trinamool Congress MP Tapash Paul served as a member on the board of two Rose Valley group firms for brief periods during two financial years. Paul, a Bengali film actor, served on the boards of Rose Valley Marketing India Ltd and Idea Projects Ltd, two companies of the Rose Valley Group, during financial years 2009-10 and 2010-11, sources in the Enforcement Directorate told PTI.

While the date of appointment for Rose Valley Marketing was February 16, 2010, his term as a director ended on August 1, 2010. For Idea Projects Ltd, he was appointed on March 8, 2010, till August 1, 2010. When contacted, Paul said, "I worked for the publicity campaign of Rose Valley Group companies like other film stars do and nothing else." ED, probing the Rose Valley ponzi scam, said that he might be interrogated at a later date to gather information to facilitate the ongoing probe.

Paul was allotted a Director Identification Number by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. He was elected as an MP from the Krishnagar seat in West Bengal in 2009, prior to which he was an MLA of the Alipore constituency in Kolkata.
