At least three fishermen were killed and seven others got injured after a battery blast in a fishing trawler in mid-sea Saturday night. The incident happened about 40 km from the coast of Paradip. The injured fishermen were rescued by a team of Coast Guard.
The fishermen with grievous injuries have been shifted to SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack while the ones with minor injuries have been admitted at the port trust hospital .The fishing trawler, carrying about 15 fishermen, was fishing in Bay of Bengal since Wednesday. The remaining five persons escaped unhurt. The deceased have been identified as Gopal Haldhar, Balaram Bardhan and Mahadeb Behera of Balasore district.
