Both the houses of parliament were adjounred till noon Monday following noisy protests by the BJP and SP members over the Vishwa Hindu Parishad's Ayodhya march being prevented from taking place.

In the Lok Sabha, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Samajwadi Party (SP) moved notices for suspending question hour to discuss the issue.

Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar requested them to take up the matter in zero hour but SP members resorted to sloganeering.

Following this, the speaker allowed the Samajwadi Party to speak on the matter.

But chaos prevailed as many members started speaking, forcing the speaker to adjourn the house till noon.

Similar scenes were witnessed in the Rajya Sabha, where SP members shouted slogans.

Rajya Sabha Chairperson Hamid Ansari repeatedly requested the members to allow the house to run.

As pandemonium continued, the house was first adjourned for 15 minutes and then till noon.

The Uttar Pradesh government Sunday stopped VHP from carrying out its "84 kosi parikrama yatra".
