2G case: RTL seeks discharge

Reliance Telecom Ltd (RTL), facing trial in the 2G spectrum allocation scam, told the Delhi high court on Monday that it has "wrongly" been roped in the case by the CBI as it was neither a beneficiary of grant of licenses nor conspired with others to cause alleged loss to the state.
"I was never ever a beneficiary of award of the Unified Access Services (UAS) licenses. Much before the scrutiny of documents for application of UAS licenses started, Swan Telecom Private Ltd stood transferred to the DB Group. RTL has wrongly been roped in as accused as it has no role in the alleged conspiracy vis-a-vis the grant of UAS licenses," senior advocate N K Kaul, appearing for the firm, told Justice M L Mehta.
