Birla Tata AT&T Ltd plans to put up 38 more cell sites, bring 12 more towns under its network and open 25 franchise showrooms in Gujarat during the current financial year. This would increase the total cell sites of the company in Gujarat from the current 214 to 252, number of franchise showrooms from two to 28 and expand coverage from 114 to 126 towns by March 31, 2002.
Birla Tata AT&T vice president (sales & marketing) Sashi Sankar said his company also plans to bring all the major towns in Gujarat having a population of more than 30,000 population under its coverage network during the next financial year. The exact investment that would be required to achieve this objective would be announced in the second fortnight of January 2002, he added.
