Former president of the Karnataka unit BJP and Chikmagalur MP, D V Sadananda Gowda has sent in his resignation as Director of Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) to express his ire over the party leadership’s failure to honour its ‘assurance’ to elevate him as the federation Chairman.

Gowda said he had sent his resignation to Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and the state unit President K S Eswarappa.

During the election of G Somasekhara Reddy, MLA and the brother of the powerful Bellary Ministers— Janardhana Reddy and Karunakara Reddy, as Chairman of the cash-rich KMF a few months ago, it was believed that an assurance was held out to Gowda that Reddy will occupy the post for three months and he could succeed him.

Even as incumbant Somasekhara Reddy completed about eight months in office, there was no sign of change, which probably, hurt Gowda, who had led the party to victory and played an instrumental role in dousing dissidence that broke out against Yeddyurappa’s leadership last September. BJP sources said Gowda had also been promised the post of BDA Chairman by Yeddyurappa, but it had also not been fulfilled and was one of the reasons for his resignation. Yeddyurappa said he had not received the resignation letter of Gowda.
