Scoffing at the role of foreign direct investment in brining prosperity to India, the BJP has committed itself to develop village cottage and small-scale industries and to concentrate on broadbased agricultural development.
The economic resolution of the BJP national executive, passed yesterday, says the party is in no doubt that the clash of ideas today is not so much a difference of opinion about the model of economic growth as essentially a clash of civilisations.
Drafted by former finance minister Yashwant Sinha, the resolution warns the government against any such misadventure as raising the prices of petroleum products. Without giving details, it says: The party is convinced that only a comprehensive approach can solve this problem. Tinkering will not do.
