The Agricultural and Processed Food Export Development Authority (Apeda) has approved the proposal for setting up a perishable cargo complex at the Ahmedabad airport and sought the consent of the commerce ministry.

The Rs 3-crore complex is likely to be completed by March 2003. The project will be funded either as a grant or an interest-free loan by Apeda.

According to Apeda sources, the cold storage and perishable cargo handling complex will remove a critical infrastructure gap in horticulture products
