With cyber attacks on a rise against oil companies across the world, the ministry of petroleum and natural gas is now in action to save its public sector undertakings by asking them to take precautions against the top hacker groups defacing Indian websites.

The ministry has asked the companies to comply with its recent directions of communication and information technology giving details of the top 10 hacker groups there by asking to follow the best practices for website administrators. As per Computer Emergency Response Team, cyber attacks in India have seen a rapid rise in the last few months. About 4191 Indian websites were defaced in August, as against 2380 in July, 2858 in June and 1808 in May,

The top hacker groups that defaced the Indian websites include “h4xOr HuSsY, hasnain haxor and SA3D HaCk 3D”, according to CERT-In’s recent reports. The ministry wants website administrators to take adequate steps against these groups.
