Checkdams Helped Raise Water Table In Gujarat

Gujarat has made a major breakthrough in its water harvesting programme by constructing 15,000 checkdams in a record period of less than two years. This has led to raising the fast-depleting underground water table and improving the kharif and rabi crop prospects.
