With the intervention of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, hopes have rekindled for the early completion of the Sahasardhara IT Park, which is hanging fire for the past three years.
After visiting the site, the second in one year time, the Chief Minister expressed concern over the delay in the completion of the IT Park and said the proposed Doon cyber tower should either be built by the State Infrastructure and Industrial Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (SIDCUL) or by the state IT department, an official statement said.
An investment of Rs 100 crore is proposed in the Doon cyber tower. IDEB, a private company, this year backed out from the joint venture with SIDCUL citing financing constraints in the wake of the last year’s recession. This is despite the fact that the government had granted special permission to raise the height of the cyber tower to 30 meters. Under the norms, the height of a building cannot be raised beyond 21 meters in Dehra Dun.
The second reason being cited by SIDCUL was that since the government had instituted an inquiry in the alleged scandals pertaining to the company during the tenure of previous Congress government, it was difficult to make any headway till the probe is completed.
