The Congress Party has come out strongly against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the recent hike in fuel rates and for failing to curb inflation.

While the Youth Congress staged a protest in Bangalore today against the fuel price hike, Congress leaders also condemned the BJP for the price rise.

Youth Congress protesters blamed the government for failing to deliver on its promise of good days, and said it is against the people.

Congress leaders, too, criticized the BJP government for failing to rein in inflation and adding to the woes of the common people.

Congress leader Manish Tewari told ANI, "The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is fulfilling the promise of happy days in a very bizarre way. Not only are the housewives but now the breadwinners also crying."

Another Congress leader Shobha Ojha told ANI, "The BJP had assured the people of this country that they would control inflation but their claims have not proved true."

Petrol and diesel prices were hiked on Monday by Rs 1.69 and Rs. 0.50 per litre respectively while onion prices have continued to surge upwards.

Onion traders in the Azadpur Mandi said that they were selling onion at Rs 22 per kilogram which they were getting only from Rajasthan. This has led to problems for the consumers as they have been hit hard by the all round increase in prices.
