Domestic air traffic rose 15.7  per cent in February, ending thirteen months of 20 per cent plus growth.

Domestic airlines flew 8.6 million people last month compared to 7.4 million in February 2016, a leap year. Analysts said demand  remained intact and slower growth last month was not a cause of concern. “The growth is 19 per cent if you account for the fact that last year was a leap year. so an extra day in the base. I don’t see any change in the growth trend,”  said Sharat Dhall, president of Yatra.com. Passenger loads have also remained strong.  IndiGo continued to lead the airlines with 39.5 per cent market share followed by Jet Airways (18.3) and Air India (13.5).  SpiceJet reported the highest passenger occupancy with 93 per cent load factor and also the highest punctuality amongst all airlines with 81 per cent on time flights.
