Bangalore: A combative B S Yeddyurappa rules out his resignation over the grant of sanction for his prosecution by Governor H R Bhardwaj, as BJP enforces a bandh in Karnataka against his action following which a criminal complaint was filed against the Chief Minister.

Shillong: Lt Gen P K Rath, the senior-most serving officer to be convicted for corruption,has been given a sentence of severe reprimand and two-year loss of seniority by an Army Court Martial before which he broke down while the verdict was being pronounced.

New Delhi/Colombo: India strongly and unequivocally condemnes the killing of another fisherman allegedly by Sri Lanka Navy, saying that use of force must be "eschewed" in all such situations even as Colombo rejected as "baseless" the charge that its personnel were involved.

Monday

Ghaziabad: Rajesh Talwar, father of murdered teenager Aarushi,has been attacked and injured outside a court by a 30-year-old man, who had earlier allegedly stabbed former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore, a convict in the Ruchika molestation case.

Nashik/Mumbai: Eleven persons have been arrested in the murder of Additional District Collector Yashwant Sonawane who was burnt alive by suspected members of local oil mafia, as the official's family and BJP demand a CBI probe into the incident.

Srinagar: A number of BJP activists and leaders of separatist groups including JKLF have been arrested for violating prohibitory orders as Jammu and Kashmir government foils their plans to hoist flag at Lal Chowk, which was turned into a fortress.

Dharamsala: Huge amount of foreign currency has been seized during raids at a transit home of 17th Karmapa Ugyen Trinley Dorje at Sidhbari.

New Delhi: Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist Mohd Afzal Guru, awaiting death penalty in Tihar Jail following his conviction for plotting terror attack on Parliament in 2001, moves the Supreme Court for shifting him to a jail in Jammu and Kashmir.
