The government today said it plans to build four expressways in the country, besides five ring roads in Uttar Pradesh.
The ministry plans to construct four expressways, including Delhi-Dasna-Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, besides Dhanbad-Kolkata, Bengalaru-Chennai and Vadodra-Mumbai, Minister of state for surface transport R P N Singh told reporters here.
The ministry has also planned five ring roads for Uttar Pradesh including in Kanpur, Aligarh, Meerut, Lucknow and Varanasi and their feasibility report would be ready by the year end.
The National Highways Authority of India would soon declare two roads in UP as National Highways, he said, adding that it is also working on four-laning and two-laning of roads in the state.
Singh said the state has been given Rs 990 crore of the central road funds this year, which is 21 per cent more than 2009.
