In a good news for central government employees, the Union Cabinet on Tuesday approved an additional one per cent dearness allowance (DA) for central government employees, and the introduction of the Payment of Gratuity Bill in Parliament to revise the gratuity cap for private sector employees.

The Union Cabinet, which on Tuesday met for the first time since the Narendra Modi-led central government effected its third reshuffle on September 3, also cleared setting up of a separate company to own the mobile tower assets of BSNL. This company would be hived off from BSNL.

Among other key approvals, the Cabinet cleared the decks for the implementation of the ‘Dairy Processing & Infrastructure Development Fund’ scheme and six-laning of the Narasannapeta-Ranastalam section of the National Highway - 16 in Andhra Pradesh.
