The Delhi High Court today dismissed a petition seeking extension of time for submitting bid for auction of 3G spectrum (radio frequency).

A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice M B Lokur and Justice Mukta Gupta held that the government has followed all norms and maintained transparency while inviting bid for 3G spectrum.

"Transparency is there. The government has already put all the information regarding the auction on its website in October," the bench said adding that it was a commercial transaction and all the norms were followed.

The court's direction came on a petition filed by Umesh Joshi which contended that the DoT has given only 20 days' time to submit bid for auction of the 3G spectrum in its notice dated February 25.

Requesting to stay DoT's notice, Joshi contended that it will suit only big players and small operators will be marginalised.

However, the court rejected his plea and imposed a cost of Rs 15,000 on him.

The auction of 3G will be held on April 9.
