The High Court has granted an interim stay on an order of the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL), which had directed the National Load Despatch Center to slash power supply to Grid Corporation of Orissa (Gridco) from November 7.
“The High Court on Friday stayed the PGCIL direction about regulating power supply to Orissa till next hearing of the matter,” said B P Mohapatra, director (finance) of Gridco, the lone bulk purchaser of power in the state. Gridco draws 1,084 Mw power from central power production pool. Initially, PGCIL had ordered cut in power supply to Gridco by 15 per cent from the midnight of October 22 for a period of six months.
