HP govt approves HPMC Chennai land sale

The Himachal Pradesh government has approved the open auction and tender procedure to dispose of land owned by the cash-starved Horticulture Processing and Marketing Corporation (HPMC) in Chennai. It has fixed a reserve price of Rs 15.6 crore.

The cabinet also approved the transfer of land owned by the Agro Industrial Packaging India at Gumma in Shimla district, late on Thursday. The approval has been given in the name of state technical education department free of cost for opening an engineering college.

It granted approval to the amendments in state lease rules to provide concessions to the independent power producers allotted hydroelectric projects of up to 2 Mw capacity. It reduced the existing lease rates from 18 per cent to 15 per cent.

Permision was also granted to restructure the state-run loss making HP General Industries Corporation to match the prevailing trends of commercial activities in the open market.

The state government has also given nod for the Kullu valley development plan. It includes creating public amenities like parking lot and warehousing complex at Palchan. And the government also approved developing fruits and vegetable markets including truck terminals at Pathlikuhal and Bandrol in the valley.
