Hydel Power Generation To Fall Short Of Target

Hydel power generation in the country in 2001-2002 is set to fall short of the 82,800 giga watt hour (gwh) target set by the Central Electricity Authority. Generation of electricity in the hydro sector in the first two months of the year has been 10,111 gwh as against 12,672 gwh generated in April and May 2000.

The power generated in this segment in the first two months of the current fiscal is not only over 20 per cent less than last year
